Bureau Launch & Commencement Studies
Bureau Launch
The e3 energy bureau began in 2003 and commenced operation in November of that year. In May 2004, with all initial enabling works complete, e3 was officially launched at the Energy Show in the RDS, Dublin.
The bureau was welcomed by Dermot Ahern T.D., Minister for Communications, Marine & Natural Resources, who called on the public sector — including universities — to lead by example in energy conservation in Ireland. David Taylor, Chief Executive of Sustainable Energy Ireland, noted the Bureau was formed to save money and reduce CO₂ emissions through collective effort.
Project Commencement Studies
At each college a project commencement study was undertaken by the bureau service provider (White Young Green in conjunction with PowerTherm Solutions). These studies establish baselines of energy performance in the e3 buildings and set cost and CO₂ per kWh figures for the respective colleges.
